At Wittering Surf Shop we like to buy British as much as possible. All British boards are hand shaped and made for the English waves, not only does it support the British surf scene but they are made to such a high standard .

Recently crowned Carve Magazines best shortboard shaper John `JP’ Putton has a elite team of riders testing his boards from former WCT surfer Russell Winter and mag regulars Fergal Smith and Tom Lowe to big wave rider Igor Harris. John not only make high performance boards like his performance shortboards, he offers Hybird fishes for those not quite ready for a shortboard as well as the JP T4 which is a quad fin fish which is ideal for the likes of us surfing slacker south coast waves.

Cornish shaper Adrian Phillips is a legend in his own right he has been shaping boards for over 20 years and he has his stepson proving that Adrian and Fluid Juice is still coming up with the goods.  Youth Champion Toby Donachie is one of the team riders at Fluid Juice as well as part of the family. He is turning heads at the moment, tipped to be the next big thing.  He has recently had a 7 page interview in Carve Magazine as well pictures in every mag.  Adrian also offers a vast selection of boards for all conditions. He has a high performance Pro Flyer, a massive selection of fishes ranging from performance quads to rocket thrusters as well as his more evolutionary models such as the Lazer Zap. Fluid Juice longboards are commonly seen in the UK as well!

Luke Young is based in Plymouth and is a relatively young shaper in his early 30s. He has over 15 years of “off the blank” experience. Carve Magazine have just crowned him Best Young Shaper ahead of the likes of Mat Adams. Luke has very inventive designs and is convinced he can find more and more ways of creating a lot of speed on a slack wave. He has been refining this idea for a few years now and has models like the Robot, Cyborg and his latest creation the Vulcan. With a great understanding of rocker lines and concaves these boards are flying. Luke has a great team of riders testing and helping him to improve his boards such as Johnty Tucker who is really making a name for himself.

Paul Waters at Black & White surfboards based down in Wadebridge just outside Newquay is another great British shaper pushing the boundaries of  performance and slack wave surfing. Paul has had great success with his Richie Lovett designed speed dialler quad fin fish which offers great drive as well as reduced rocker for flying through those flat sections on the wave.

All of us at Wittering Surf Shop ride British made surfboards as we feel they are the best for the conditions and made with such quality that we wouldn’t dream of surfing anything else.
